Back to the beginning

I’m very proud to be the second generation of my family farming here at East Marsh Farm. Today, I’m lucky enough to farm alongside my Dad, my brother and my husband — which means there’s never a shortage of opinions, ideas or the occasional debate.

But the story actually starts with Dad.

He is a first-generation farmer, and his love of farming began at just four years old when he would visit his Great Uncle Fred’s dairy farm in Cheshire. Something about those visits clearly stuck — the farming bug had well and truly bitten and he often shares many happy memories of his time at Uncle Freds!

From those early childhood visits, Dad went on to build a life in farming and eventually alongside my Uncle, established our family farm here at East Marsh in 2000. Years later, I found myself following in his footsteps, growing up surrounded by cattle, tractors and farm life, and now farming alongside him.

What started with a four-year-old boy who fell in love with farming has grown into a busy family farming business. Today, we farm around 1,200 acres, growing barley, wheat, oilseed rape and beans, alongside a herd of 180 suckler cows across our two farms.

'From our family to yours'

With animal welfare at the heart of everything we do, we take pride in raising our cattle with care, respect and dedication from farm to fork.

Growing up on the farm, there was nowhere I would rather be than riding in the back of my Dad’s Case International tractor, “Old Betsy" whilst listening to him singing Matchstick Men & Matchstick Cats and Dogs. Those early memories sparked a love of farming that has stayed with me throughout my life.

Fast forward a few years, I married a farmer who, thankfully, loves cows and farming just as much as I do!

After spending six years working for a Case IH dealer and welcoming our two children, the time finally felt right to come home and farm alongside my family — and, quite honestly, I haven’t stopped since!

Coming back to the farm has allowed me to combine my passion for agriculture, my love of cattle, and my family — carrying on the traditions I grew up with while creating new memories of our own.

I am incredibly passionate about producing and selling quality, honest produce directly to our customers, straight from the farm. Farmers work incredibly hard, and I strongly believe they deserve a fair price for the food they work so hard to produce.

In February 2022, I launched the very first East Marsh Beef Boxes. They sold out three times over, and from there, the beef business has gone from strength to strength. What began as 10kg beef boxes collected by customers from the farm, quickly turned into attending local farmers’ markets, opening a pop-up shop here on the farm, and we have seen our customer base grow month after month.
Four and a half years on, our little beef box venture has grown in ways we didn't imagine - building a wonderful community of loyal customers and creating some fantastic opportunities to share our home-reared beef with the local community
We continue to regularly attend local farmers’ markets and open our pop-up shop on the farm for our popular Farm Shop Fridays.

We are incredibly proud to supply our local pub, where every beef dish on the menu features beef from our farm — the beef really doesn’t get any more local than that! We also supply Elsham Hall & Gardens, as well as a local pie maker, both of whom are hugely enthusiastic about supporting local producers and championing the importance of knowing where their food comes from.

It is fantastic to see our beef being enjoyed by our local community, while working alongside other local businesses who share our passion for quality, provenance and supporting one another.

It has been incredibly rewarding to see people connect with where their food comes from and to be able to share the quality of our home-reared beef directly with our customers.

The passion for producing high-quality beef is carried by the entire team, and in 2025, East Marsh Farm won a Rural Oscar, an award which saw us recognised at the House of Lords for our commitment to quality, welfare, and community.

why buy direct?

Fair price for Farmers

Across much of the farming industry, prices are dictated - and we have zero control.
However, with our farm-to-fork sales, we control the price, the quality, and the story. We can show you where your food comes from and who has raised it!

Buying direct means:
1. A fair price for farmers
2. Transparency and traceability for our customers
3. Uncompromising welfare for our cattle.

our promise

At the heart of everything we do

Animal welfare is at the heart of everything we do. Our cattle are cared for as individuals, with fresh, clean bedding every day, calm handling and the respect they deserve. We take great pride in knowing our animals are happy, well cared for and looked after throughout their lives here on the farm.

We also believe strongly in transparency. We are proud to show our customers what life is really like on the farm, from the daily routines to the hard work that goes into producing their food. We love answering questions, sharing our knowledge and helping people — especially children — understand where their food comes from.

Because food doesn’t grow on a supermarket shelf. It starts here, on farms like ours, with farmers who care deeply about their animals, their land and the food they produce.
